My inner five year old is dying to have these. and so is my outer 27 year old. Paper dolls, especially the Tom Tierney Fashions of the... series, were one of my favorite things when i was a kid. These Debbie Harry dolls would have been right up my ally!

new york
one thing i love about living in New York is sometimes, you can be walking down the street and if it is foggy, or rainy, or you squint a little bit you can forget what decade you are living in. Well until your iPhone reminds you.

Mr. Beene
One of my favorite jobs in grad school was working in the archive at Geoffrey Beene. I came across this blog last week and it made me think about what an amazing experience it was to see all of his amazing creations up close. Even though his clothes (especially in the 80s) could lean a little loud, the construction was always so immaculate and amazing. I feel like the rise of high end ready to wear has killed the sort of fashion designing that could come from knowledge of the human body and the ability to design for an individual body, not just a sample size.

The history and evolution of natural history museums is a very interesting thing. This post on gothamist has some awesome old photos from the AMNH.

Dance party
Rye Rye is awesome. The original of this song is insipid, but this remix makes me want to dance (with awesome adorable boy friends to do back up).

with thanks
My mother always stressed the importance of writing thank you notes. I find this site very refreshing.
